Seasonal Temporary Firefighter/EMT and Firefighter/Paramedic Employment Announcement

Crooked River Ranch Fire & Rescue (CRRF&R) is seeking motivated, community-minded individuals to join our team as Temporary Firefighter/EMTs and Temporary Firefighter/Paramedics. These temporary positions, funded by the Oregon State Fire Marshal Wildland Fire Season Staffing Grant, provide essential support to our career and volunteer personnel during the summer months elevated call volume and ensure we maintain strong response capabilities for the Crooked River Ranch community during wildfire season. Employment normally runs from mid-June to mid-September.

CRRF&R serves a unique and growing community in Central Oregon, responding to fire, EMS, rescue, and wildland incidents across diverse terrain. Our combination fire district values professionalism, teamwork, and strong service to our residents and visitors. Temporary staffing plays an important role in maintaining reliable emergency response and meeting minimum staffing during wildfire season.

Position Overview

Temporary Firefighter/EMTs and Firefighter/Paramedics will work alongside our career and volunteer staff to provide emergency medical care, fire suppression, rescue operations, and station support. Successful candidates must be capable of operating in a team environment, communicating effectively, and maintaining a high level of readiness.

Shifts may be scheduled in 12-hour or 24-hour formats depending on operational needs. These temporary positions will utilized mid-September, 2026. All temporary employees will be covered by CRRF&R worker’s compensation insurance while on-duty for CRRF&R, earn sick leave per Oregon state statutes, and the district will pay the employees 6% PERS match (if eligible).

Compensation

• Firefigher/EMT - $20.00/hour
• Firefighter/Paramedic - $23.00/hour

Minimum Qualifications

• 18 years of age
• High school graduate or equivalent
• Valid driver's license
• NFPA Firefighter I
• Oregon EMT or Paramedic
• Wildland Firefighter Type II
• NFPA Driver or equivalent

Desired Qualifications

• NFPA Pumper Operator, NFPA Wildland Fire Apparatus Operation, or NFPA Mobile Water Supply Apparatus Operator
• Prior firefighting and EMS experience with a transporting agency
