Volunteer With Us

 

At Crooked River Ranch Fire & Rescue, all our volunteers share a common trait: a strong desire to help others and give back to the community. If you are passionate about making a difference, take pride in performing your best in every task, value respect and appreciation, and are willing to work hard, we invite you to join us as a volunteer.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Oregon driver’s license
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check, drug screening, and medical physical

Volunteer Opportunities

1. Firefighter Volunteer
Firefighter volunteers participate in fire and emergency medical service (EMS) activities, including:

  • Engaging in drills and training to develop and maintain skills in fire suppression, life safety, rescue operations, property conservation, clean-up projects, and other related tasks
  • Responding to fire and EMS emergencies
  • Performing firefighter duties, including the operation of hoses, pumps, emergency apparatus, tools, and water tenders
  • Performing EMS duties within the scope of current EMS certification, including patient care, rehab unit staffing, and medic standby
  • Maintaining and testing apparatus, equipment, and facilities
  • Preparing and submitting required reports for emergency and non-emergency activities
  • Participating in community events, public education, and station tours
  • Following all standard policies, procedures, guidelines, and safety rules

2. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Volunteer
EMS volunteers focus on life safety and rescue operations, with responsibilities including:

  • Participating in EMS drills and classes to maintain required skills
  • Responding to EMS emergencies
  • Performing EMS duties appropriate to current certification levels, including patient care, rehab unit staffing, and medic standby
  • Preparing and submitting required reports for emergency and non-emergency activities
  • Engaging in community outreach, public education, and station tours
  • Adhering to all standard policies, procedures, guidelines, and safety rules

3. Community Service Volunteer
This program is ideal for those wishing to contribute in a non-emergency capacity. Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting community activities, public education, and station tours
  • Assisting with the maintenance and care of antique apparatus
  • Helping with administrative functions of the Fire District
  • Engaging positively with the public
